UPDATE 1-4-12: There was an issue where the "powered by" was showing up at the top, I have hidden that module. Also a couple tweeks were added that don't really affect anything, they were added for "just in case" purposes. And sometime in the future I may try to make the layout work for comments, but I'm not sure when that will be, but feel free to check back from time to time or watch this comm, as I'll make a post about it when I do!

"hooky"

Has many variations. There's a textured version with 4 colors, there's also a no texture version with just one color but that's because you can change colors on your own, and then both have a stickied sidebar and non-sticky sidebar option.

Note this is my first time making a layout for Dreamwidth, there's bound to be something I missed. Feel free to inform me in comments.

Notes: To turn ON the sticky sidebar, search for #secondary in the stylesheet. Replace "absolute" with "fixed."

If you do use the sticky sidebar, keep in mind screen resolutions. If you have a lot of info in your sidebar it WILL be cut off. The sticky sidebar was made with RP journals in mind where the tag or link list would basically be the only important thing needed. If you have a lot of tags, use the tag cloud instead of list.

This was tested in IE7-9, FF4+ and Chrome, it should stand to reason it will work in Safari and Opera. IE7 and 8 work all right with this layout, but the fonts won't work and there's a couple height issues on 7 that weren't a big enough deal for me to want to fix it.

DO NOT use this layout on your comment pages. It just doesn't work well with them so I decided not to bother with this particular layout. You can turn off that option here.

Please upload all images to your own image server and replace the URLs in the style sheet!

Directions: Go here. Below you'll find a section of themes to select and a search field. In the search box put in "Lettuce" and choose the template. In the top right you'll see a box called Current Theme, click "Change page setup" and there choose "2 Column (sidebar on the left)" if it's not already. Then click the "Customize selected theme" link. On your left you'll see a sidebar. If you want to use this layout with the fixed sidebar you will need to go into "Modules" and pick only one or 2 modules to have in your sidebar. If you don't use the fixed sidebar, don't worry about it. Then click on "Custom CSS." Uncheck "Use layout's stylesheet(s)" and leave "Custom stylesheet URL" blank.

If you haven't already, you need upload all the images to your own server/image service and replace all the image URLs on this stylesheet with your own URLs. Then copy and paste this WHOLE document into the "Use embedded CSS" box.

Click "Save Changes" and it should be ready to go!

Oh, you wouldn't know why my name (top left) is showing up out of line with the black topbar?

It's because you removed the menu from the header, that menu is wrapped in a div with only one class name, which is a name shared among several other divs and so I couldn't style it, and it stretched across the whole width of the layout, pushing the title down which I had to style with a negative margin. So when you removed the menu it moved the title up.

tl;dr:
find "h1#title" in the stylesheet and change margin: -20px 0 0 15px; to something like margin: 5px 0 0 15px;

Hi! I'm loving this layout and planning on using it for this character. I was wondering if you might help me figure out what's going wrong when I use it, though. I get two purple lines instead of one, and the texture doesn't seem to be showing up in the background. For some reason the BG got shrunk, it SHOULD be 3000px in width, not 700ish like yours is right now. I'm assuming Photobucket resized it. I'm not at all familiar with photobucket anymore, as I stopped used it because it would compress images, but you can try messing around with the upload options and see if one of them will upload it at its full width. Or you can try http://imgur.com/ or http://tinypic.com/ instead and see if those will work!

These layouts are lovely, but I'm having trouble getting the live previews or zips to load. I'm not sure if the problem is server-side or something to do with my net connection; thought I would let you know.

They worked for me, but seemed like it was going a little slower than usual, so if your connection is real slow to begin with that might be why. But they're there, so if you want to try again later, sorry!

My DSL can be a little slow sometimes in bad weather, that might be why. No problem, thanks.
